Celestis Memorial Spaceflights
Celestis Memorial Spaceflights makes your loved one's dream of space flight a reality.

From the stars we are born, and to the stars we return

Leaving the bounds of earth to venture into the cosmos is something many people have dreamed about but few will ever actually experience. Celestis Memorial Spaceflights makes it possible to honor the dream and memory of your departed loved one with a final journey into celestial infinity.

Celestis first made space memorial history in 1997 with a launch into space that included the cremated remains of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry, influential American psychologist Timothy Leary, and others from all over the world.

Celestis Memorial Spaceflights makes your loved one's dream of space flight a reality by placing a symbolic portion of cremated remains into earth's orbit, or even beyond. What more appropriate tribute could you give to your loved one than a chance to be a part of the everlasting universe they so deeply loved? This unique approach to honoring and remembering deceased loved ones opens a new frontier in space. Your loved one will venture into space as part of a real space mission, riding alongside a commercial or scientific satellite. All Celestis Memorial Spaceflight missions are licensed by the appropriate regulatory authorities and are conducted in an environmentally-benign manner.

The process is simple and completed with the utmost respect and care. A small portion of cremated remains is carefully placed inside a permanently-sealed flight module or capsule. Celestis allows for a choice between two different amounts of cremated remains to be launched into space. The Flight Module contains 7grams of cremated remains and the Flight Capsule contains 1gram of cremated remains. Each module or capsule is inscribed with the person's name and a personal message can also be included. The ashes of your loved one are then loaded into a special vessel that attaches to the launch vehicle. On launch day, families gather at the liftoff site to share the experience of seeing their loved one's dream of spaceflight realized. With the roar and fiery streak across the sky, the rocket lifts its precious cargo higher and higher into the peaceful solitude of space.

Celestis Earth Rise

Starting at $995.00
The Celestis Earth Rise service launches a small portion of cremated remains into space. Like all Memorial Spaceflight missions, a small portion of cremated remains is placed into a flight module or capsule, which is then attached to the launch vehicle. After the launch into space, the ashes will travel with the launch vehicle and experience a zero gravity environment. Once the mission has been successfully completed, the Earth Rise payload of flown ashes are recovered and validated as having reached space. The capsules or modules are then returned to the family to keep as a permanent and incredibly unique remembrance.

Celestis Earth Orbit

Starting at $2,995.00
The Earth Orbit Memorial Spaceflight places a small portion of cremated remains into earth's orbit. The Celestis spacecraft is placed alongside a commercial or scientific satellite, which means the duration of the space mission could range from decades to hundreds of years. Earth orbital spacecraft can be tracked by logging on to the Celestis Web site, providing multiple opportunities to experience the special moment of knowing a friend or loved one is passing overhead. The cremated ashes will eventually re-enter earth's atmosphere and harmlessly vaporize, blazing like a shooting star in final tribute.

Celestis Luna

Starting at $9,995.00
Cremated remains can also be taken to a final resting place on the moon. The journey to the moon is an adventure only very few have made, and now Celestis Luna offers a final resting place on the lunar surface.  The Luna Service, inaugurated in 1998 at NASA's request, places the Celestis spacecraft on the surface of earth's only natural satellite, creating a permanent memorial on a distant, but constantly viewable world. You or a loved one can follow legendary astronomer and geologist Eugene Shoemaker in what NASA described as "a special tribute for a special person."

Celestis Voyager

Starting at $12,500.00
The Voyager I robotic space probe was launched by NASA on September 5, 1977. It is currently pursuing its mission to study the furthest reaches of the Solar System. In the spirit of Voyager I, the Celestis Voyager Memorial Spaceflight service is a true mission of exploration. The Celestis spacecraft is placed alongside a space probe that is designed to monitor the Sun from deep space. The probe will send the flight module containing the cremated ashes on a permanent celestial journey. The Celestis Voyager mission is truly a mission of purpose. Your loved one will be an everlasting part of the everlasting universe.
